Parish Council
Arrangements are in place to carry out surface water alleviation improvements on Station Road, Earls Colne from Monday 24 February 2025 for approximately five nights.
The works will involve working at various locations on Station Road to replace defective drains and pipe work, and carry out CCTV surveys and pipe jetting.
Station Road will be closed between the hours of 7pm and 5am with the support of a diversion, to allow these activities to be carried out in a safe manner. At all other times temporary traffic lights will be needed until the works are complete.
Residents/Businesses directly affected by the works are being sent letters to provide them notice of the night works, and to reassure them that noisiest activities will be carried out prior to 11pm, with works continuing for the remainder of the shift (example letter attached). Details are also available on One.Network.
Please be aware that dates may be subject to change if the team experience unsuitable weather or if unexpected issues arise.

Winter Fuel Allowance Guidance
The Winter Fuel Payment is now means-tested.
The only way a pensioner will receive this payment (up to £300) is if they are in receipt of means-tested benefits such as Pension Credits.
The deadline for people to start a Pension Credits claim is before Saturday 21st December 2024!
Braintree District Council has created and distributed the attached booklet to help people with understanding what they need to do to be eligible, how to claim and where to get support.

We have a number of vacant plots immediately available to residents of the Four Colnes, so if you live in Earls Colne, Wakes Colne, Colne Engaine or, of course, White Colne then this might interest you.
The plots vary in size (and cost) and if required some of the larger plots could be divided into two smaller plots and whilst all will need some work to lick them into shape, on the plus side mains water is available to the site.
If you are interested and want to take on a plot then do not hesitate to contact us at clerk@whitecolneparishcouncil.gov.uk
